Postcards from All Over Title Sheet

Postcards From All Over is truly an experimental show. It's the firstmail-in art show for the Irving Arts Association and the firstexhibit I have curated. We made it up as we went and had no idea whatto expect.

The idea was to have an inexpensive, open show. Many juried showshave high entry fees with no guarantee of success for the artist. Weare exhibiting all works, one per artist.

I like small pieces and the idea of a mail-in postcard show seemedlike a natural. We also wanted to try to attract more modern work aswell as traditional art in a variety of media. And we got it, fromoil and watercolor to nail polish and digital images.

While many entries were from North Texas, we got entries from allover North America. Most art arrived in pretty good condition. Thebar codes you see on some of the art were added the post office, aneffect that works on many of the entries!

We met the goals. I'm thrilled with the quality and variety of artreceived. The show was very difficult to judge with so many strongpieces.

Special thanks to Barbara Fields and the entire IAA Executive Boardfor their support; Doris Vail our gallery attendant; Birta Shubin whohelped hang the show; Judi Sampson for help with the database; andAsel Art Supply for donating awards. And thanks to all the artistswho entered. Nothing would have happened without you!

I hope you enjoy the show. Next year it will be even better!
